The mega Electric power plants, Genale-Dawa, has been out of service for the last 8 months.
The Genale Dawa III hydro operated Dam was built in the Southern East Ethiopia, and the Genale – Dawa hydro power Dam stop to provide service over eight months. It was completed and inaugurated two years ago.

According to a internal source of information, who work in Ethiopia Electricity Utility, the dam has the capacity of generating 254 MW power. However, it has stop generating its power because there is a claim of compensation and other bills related to the installation of the high voltage cable lines from Genale Dawa to Yirgalem.
