TPLF threatens to “restore Tigray’s territories by peace or war”
The TPLF spokesman, Getachew Reda, commented on the recent talks. Getachew, one of the TPLF leaders wanted by the Ethiopian government, made the remarks in an article in the French newspaper Monde.
The newspaper quoted unnamed diplomats as saying that Tigray and Ethiopian officials would have a careful discussion. The newspaper also reported that the TPLF had relinquished control of the so-called “western Tigray” areas, but Getachew did not.
He said he would soon make these claims public. “It is the intention and position of the government of Tigray. We will do everything possible to restore every inch of Tigray territory, peacefully and otherwise,” he said.
The government has not commented on reports that the government and the TPLF are going to negotiate in Tanzania.
Earlier, a committee was set up to identify Rayana Wolkait as part of the Amhara region.
